Strong winds are being blamed for knocking over an empty semitrailer Thursday afternoon on northbound Interstate 65 south of the 61st Avenue exit.
According to a press release from the Indiana State Police, Bradley C. Brooks, 24, of Miamisburg, Ohio, was stopped/slowed in his 2011 Freightliner the middle lane of northbound I-65 because of the torrential rain the area was receiving at the time. A strong wind blew the semi trailer onto its right side into the right lane. The wind then pushed the semi trailer into the far right exit lane for 61st Avenue where it struck a van, police said. There was very minor damage to the van. Brooks was not injured.
Brooks was going to Joliet, Ill. The far right exit lane and right lane where temporarily closed.
