LOWELL — A man was found dead Sunday afternoon inside a vehicle that had left the road and struck a tree in a wooded area near Mount Street.
Lake County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Patti Van Til said Monday police found the vehicle about 1:45 p.m. in a wooded area, east of the 17100 block of Mount Street, south of Lake Dalecarlia.
Police said tracks showed that the vehicle left Mount Street on a farm path heading in an easterly direction. The vehicle left the path and headed into a northeasterly direction through a bean field into a wooded area where it struck a tree.
The identity of the man wasn’t released by the Lake County Coroner’s office, pending DNA examination. The cause of death was blunt force trauma.
Van Til said the investigation was continuing.
