After a fight in the wave pool and a hammer through a windshield, three people were arrested at Deep River Waterpark on Saturday.
Lake County Police Officers responded at about 5:30 p.m. after a report of fighting in the wave pool. Two people were arrested.
Shortly thereafter, a second, larger fight broke out in the parking lot as individuals involved in the wave pool fight met up again. Police say objects were being thrown during the incident, including a hammer through the windshield of a vehicle. As individuals attempted to flee, parked cars were hit.
A third individual, a woman, was arrested for interfering with officers as they attempted to calm the situation.
All three individuals, two males and one female, who were not identified by the Lake County Sheriff’s Department, were arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting law enforcement. One of the men also faces a criminal trespassing charge.
No injuries of park patrons or officers were reported. Lake County police do not know what caused the initial incident in the wave pool.
The park is at 9001 E. Lincoln Highway, or U.S. 30, between Valparaiso and Merrillville.
