A Dyer man has been appointed to fill a vacancy on the Lake County Board of Elections and Registration.
Dennis M. Hawrot was appointed by Hammond Mayor and Lake County Democratic Party Chairman Tom McDermott. Hawrot will fill the unexpired term of Gregory Sanchez, who resigned last month to accept a position as chief deputy in the Lake County Surveryor’s Office.
Hawrot has served as chairman of the Dyer Democratic Precinct Organization for the past 20 years. He is a former two-term councilman in Dyer and he has served on various boards and commissions in Dyer and Lake County. His wife, Pat, is the Dyer clerk-treasurer.
