Two men arrested early Wednesday are suspects in a number of thefts from vehicles, according to Porter County Sheriff’s Police.
Justin Brookover, 22, and Trevor Voss, 26, both of Salt Creek Commons, were arrested at about 12:25 a.m. in Washington Township for felony theft and unlawful entry of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor.
According to the incident report, police pulled over the mo-ped Brookover was driving, with Voss as a passenger, for suspicious behavior reported by a resident of County Road 450E. The officer found a wallet and a prescription bottle, filled with change, both showing an address in the 400 block of Amber Drive in Washington Township. Police found their owner, who said they were stolen from his vehicle.
Police said the black Yamaha mo-ped also may have been stolen. Brookover had hot-wired it, saying he lost the keys.
Sgt. Larry LaFlower, public information officer for the Porter County Sheriff’s Department, said he believes Brookover and Voss may be responsible for numerous recent thefts in the area.
