Hobart (2-1) at Kankakee Valley (3-0), 7 p.m.
Radio: None
The skinny: Surprise, surprise. Atop the Northwest Crossroads Conference, along with Munster, are these two teams who haven’t spent much time on top of the seven-team group in the last four years. Granted, it’s only after one week, but the winner of Friday’s game at Fred Jones Field will be 2-0 in the conference. Hobart won a share of the NCC in its first year in 2007, and was second in 2008, but hasn’t been close to the top since. KV has never finished higher than fifth in the conference. If the Brickies want to return to the top, they’ll have to stop Tyler Birky, who has 572 yards rushing through three games with 11 touchdowns.
