GARY — The neighbor of a Glen Park man shot to death outside his home early Sunday has been charged with murder.
Jamal Lawshea, 25, of 3373 Maryland St., allegedly killed Latarus Foster, 29, about 2 a.m.
An arrest warrant has been issued to Lawshea, who will be held without bail when he is apprehended.
A woman told Sgt. Larry Robertson she had been out with the suspect that night. They returned to his house after bowling and “that Jamal had attitude with her when they pulled up,” the probable cause affidavit states.
She said Lawshea went into his house and she heard shots.
A neighbor said she also heard the gunfire and saw her neighbor, “Buck” holding a gun and walking near the site where Foster collapsed, court records state.
Police said it appeared Foster was trying to run to his house, which is north on the same side of the street as Lawshea’s home, when he collapsed on the sidewalk.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect’s father said his son has not returned home since the night of the shooting. He told Robertson his son “was going to turn himself in to police,” the affidavit states.
Police have been searching for Lawshea in several Glen Park locations this week.
He remains at large.
