Valparaiso’s 15th annual City Wide Food Drive will run from Oct. 26 to Nov. 3, with a city truck in front of City Hall at 166 Lincolnway to collect items from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.
It isn’t just non-perishable items, such as canned goods and breakfast cereals, that city employees are collecting for all the city’s food pantries.
They are looking for paper plates and napkins, pet supplies, diapers and toilet paper to help people at holiday time. “We’ll take anything,” said drive organizer Jeffrey Van Syock of the Valparaiso City Utilities Department.City workers will also take cash donations at local stores on Nov. 3, Syock said.
