VALPARAISO — As police searched Valparaiso resident Thomas Handzlik’s personal computer for evidence of fraud, they found child pornography instead.
Handzlik, 46, of the 500 block of North Calumet Avenue, was arrested on felony charges of possession of child pornography and child exploitation.
At about noon Wednesday, Valparaiso police served a search warrant to Handzlik at his home, and it allowed them to confiscate his computer and several other electronic devices. In checking his Internet search history, police found he had been visiting likely child pornography sites. When questioned, Handzlik admitted to fraud, identity theft and to having child pornography being on his computer, police said.
In 2008 in South Bend, according to WNDU.com, Handzlik was arrested for the alleged attempted abduction of a young female walking home from school, but the case later was dropped for lack of evidence.
