A 61-year-old Crown Point woman was arrested Monday in connection with her husband’s murder in 2002.
According to a press release from the Indiana State Police, Jane Leslie Carpenter, 61, has been charged with 1st-degree murder in Prescott, Ariz.
Carpenter, who ran a business from her home, was arrested as she arrived at a client’s house in LaPorte.
The warrant for her arrest stems from an investigation into the murder of Carpenter’s husband in June 2002 when they resided in Prescott. Shortly after the murder, Carpenter returned to Indiana, the press release said.
According to CBS5AZ.com, citying information from the Prescott police, reports that Carpenter was charged in the death of Brent Carpenter, 71, who was found stabbed and beaten to death inside their Yavapai Hills Subdivision in Prescott on June 4, 2002.
New information was received by Prescott Police this past year which led to the warrant being issued for her arrest.
Carpenter was taken to LaPorte County Jail where she will await extradition back to Arizona, police said.
