HOBART — A Crown Point man died in a head-on crash Wednesday morning when his car crossed into oncoming traffic on U.S. 6.
Andre Cash, 24, was pronounced dead at 9 a.m., Lake County Coroner Merrillee Frey said.
Cash was driving west when his Buick suddenly veered into the eastbound lanes west of Union Street.
Hobart Detective Garrett Cizewski said police haven’t determined what caused Cash to make the sudden move.
Cash hit an SUV driven by a 51-year-old woman who suffered serious injuries. A toddler who was restrained in her car had minor injuries, Cizewski said.
“All the air bags deployed,” Cizewski said.
Cash had left the South Haven area and was driving to Griffith when he crashed, police said.
Neither drugs nor alcohol appeared to be an obvious factor in the crash.
“But we’ll have to wait for the toxicology report,” Cizewski said.
