An unknown woman in a red car reportedly battered another female driver at about 6:10 p.m. Tuesday, northeast of Valparaiso.
The 30-year-old victim’s injuries included a swollen black eye and scratches on her neck and chest, police said.
The victim, of rural Valparaiso, told police she was driving east on County Road 700N when a red vehicle, possibly a Dodge Avenger, came “flying up on her.” The female driver would slow down and then quickly speed up to within feet of the rear of the victim’s vehicle, but did not pass despite the lead driver waving her around.
The unknown driver got out of her car at the stop sign at Meridian and walked toward the victim who stupidly, she said, opened her door to tell the woman to go back to her car. Instead, the petite woman attacked with her fists and fingernails until a man in a pickup stopped and dragged her out of the victim’s vehicle, according to the police report.
The victim told police her attacker was under 5 feet tall, in her mid-20s and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. She also believed the unknown woman was intoxicated. Police were provided with a partial plate number.
