MANTENO, Ill. — A Gary woman was killed early Saturday after the minivan she was traveling in struck an abandoned pickup on Interstate 57 in what police are calling a DUI incident in Kankakee County, Ill.
The 1994 GMC minivan was northbound on I-57 near Manteno when the driver lost control and struck an unoccupied red 2000 Dodge pickup parked on the shoulder about 6:30 a.m., according to Illinois State Police District 21.
The minivan spun around and stopped in a field while the pickup was pushed into a ditch, ISP said.
A passenger in the minivan, Randi Jackson, 33, of Gary, was killed, police said.
Stephanie Cobb, 28, also of Gary, was arrested for aggravated DUI and aggravated driving with license revoked after being released from Riverside Medical Center, ISP said.
