Two teens have been charged in Lake Superior Court with robbery resulting in bodily injury in a purse snatching outside a Hobart restaurant.
Joel William Bogdan, 19, of the 2300 block of Swanson Road, Portage, and Kelly Rushing Jr., 18, of the 100 block of Beverly Lane, Hobart, are accused in a Dec. 11 robbery in which a 71-year-old woman was knocked down and her purse stolen as she walked out of Lake Park Restaurant, 7 E. Old Ridge Road.
The woman told police she was hospitalized with severe chest pains and bad bruising when she fell on the asphalt.
Five days after the robbery, a similar attempted purse snatching-robbery occurred at the gas station directly across the street from the restaurant where the perpetrator was identified as a 13-year-old girl.
In a statement, the girl implicated Rushing and Bogdan.
Police found the woman’s purse with her identification inside Rushing’s garbage. Inside her purse was a form for Bogdan.
