Coley named Ivy Tech interim leader

Ivy Tech Community College President Thomas J. Snyder has named Thomas G. Coley as interim chancellor for the college’s Northwest region following the retirement of Chancellor J. Guadalupe Valtierra.
Coley serves as chancellor for the college’s North Central region, with three campuses located in South Bend, Goshen and Warsaw. He will remain chancellor of the North Central region during his interim appointment.
Valtierra’s final day with the college is Dec. 31 and he just received chancellor emeritus status.
Valtierra has led the college’s Northwest region, which includes the campuses of Gary, East Chicago, Valparaiso and Michigan City, since 2002.
During his tenure, enrollment at Ivy Tech’s Northwest Region has grown by more than 70 percent, from 9,434 students in 2002-03 to more than 16,000 students today.
