MUNSTER — In the wake of the Newtown, Conn., school shooting, the School Town of Munster has halted its “open lunch” policy in which parents and other relatives came to school and dined with students.
In addition, parents waiting to pick up students during the school day will not be allowed to enter the building without prior approval.
School officials and Munster police reviewed the security plan Wednesday. Administrators from each school and the district’s technology team attended the meeting.
A press release said student safety was the prime factor behind the changes.
