VALPARAISO — The Valparaiso Ethics Commission is considering ways to get itself and its mission known, and it plans to reach out city employees, politicians, and candidates.
The group plans to offer educational presentations to teachers at the high school or Valparaiso University and to student government groups.
The commission will also appear before the City Council at least once a year for five minute presentations and have a pamphlet for city employees, contractors and officials, members confirmed at their Dec. 18 meeting.
The pamphlets would be more general information rather than the ordinance in its entirety
The commission also discussed how much support its members could show for local candidates during elections, and members decided that endorsements were not allowable.
They plan to return to the matter closer to elections.
