CEDAR LAKE — The Hanover Community School Corp. approved a resignation and severance agreement with Superintendent Carol Kaiser, pending her signature.
A special meeting Friday evening was over within minutes as the school board announced their decision.
Neither school board officials nor board attorney William Kaminski would confirm that Kaiser had approved the agreement. Kaiser did not attend.
Kaiser joined the district in 2008, and her contract was renewed last summer for $114,000, including benefits.
The agreement to terminate Kaiser’s position at the school comes following the board’s decision to fire the district’s bookkeeper, Jennifer Gricich.
Richard Cook, a consultant with Educational Services Co. in Indianapolis, will serve as the district’s interim superintendent.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Department has also confirmed that it is cooperating with the Indiana State Board of Accounts regularly scheduled audit of the school district, which occurs every two years. The results will be made public once the audit is complete.
School board attorney William Kaminski said the employment agreement will not be available to the public for seven days.
