GARY--One man is dead and a second critically wounded, shot by a man who asked them for a ride in Brunswick late Monday night.
Terrell Frazier, 21, died early Tuesday at the Methodist Hospitals Northlake campus intensive care unit, a spokesman for the Lake County coroner said.
He was a back seat passenger in a car driven by Deshalone Williams, 18.
Williams stopped at a gas station at 15th Avenue and Clark Road, where a man approached and asked for a ride.
At about 7th Avenue and Clark Road, the man asked to get out of the car. He shot Williams and Frazier and fled, police spokeswoman Cpl. Gabrielle King said.
Anyone with information about the shooting can call the Gary police Violent Crimes Unit at 881-1210.
