South Shore trains resumes service after derailment in Indiana

South Shore trains have resumed normal service after a train derailment in northern Indiana caused temporary suspension during the morning rush hour.
The train derailment caused the cancellation of six South Shore trains scheduled to arrive in Chicago between 7:21 a.m. and 8:52 a.m., according to a statement posted on the Northern Indiana Commuters Transportation District’s website.
No injuries were reported from the train derailment in Michigan City, Indiana, according to the Northern Indiana Commuters Transportation District’s website.
Normal westbound service resumed with the no. 14 train scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 10:28 a.m. with an expected 15-20 minute delay, according to the Northern Indiana Commuters Transportation District’s website. The eastbound no. 7 train scheduled to depart Chicago at 8:45 a.m. was running about 30 minutes late.
Metra said on its website that it will honor South Shore ticketed passengers who rode the Metra Electric train line Monday morning.
