South Shore resumes service after Michigan City derailment

MICHIGAN CITY -- South Shore trains have resumed normal service after a train derailment in Michigan City caused temporary suspension during the morning rush hour.
The train derailment caused the cancellation of six South Shore trains scheduled to arrive in Chicago between 7:21 a.m. and 8:52 a.m., according to a statement posted on the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District’s website.
No injuries were reported from the train derailment, according to NICTD.
Normal westbound service resumed with the No. 14 train scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 10:28 a.m. with an expected 15- to 20-minute delay. The eastbound No. 7 train scheduled to depart Chicago at 8:45 a.m. was running about 30 minutes late.
Metra said on its website that it will honor South Shore ticketed passengers who rode the Metra Electric train line Monday morning.
