Hammond woman found dead at the wheel in Munster

MUNSTER — An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death of an 80-year-old Hammond woman found unresponsive behind the wheel of her car at the intersection of Calumet Avenue and Ridge Road.
An investigative team from the Lake County Coroner’s office was dispatched to the emergency room at Community Hospital in Munster were they pronounced Mary Bales of the 7400 block of Jefferson Avenue dead at 11:30 a.m., according to a press release from the coroner’s office.
Further information from Munster Police was not immediately available.
