High winds buffeting much of Indiana have prompted officials to temporarily ban certain trucks from using the 157-mile Indiana Toll Road.
All but far southern and southeastern Indiana remain under a wind advisory until 9 p.m. Monday because of high winds that could produce gusts of up to 50 mph.
The strong winds prompted the operators of the Indiana Toll Road to ban all triple trailers and long double trailers, excluding steel haulers, from using the northern Indiana highway. Driving high-profile vehicles in strong winds can be difficult and result in the vehicles being pushed or flipped over by strong gusts.
Officials say travel along the toll road is expected to become increasingly difficult and dangerous as winds increase Monday morning and afternoon.
