Truck rollover causes Borman ramp closure

Motorists trying to enter southbound Interstate 65 from the eastbound Borman Expressway Thursday morning were forced to find alternate routes after a semitrailer rollover that forced the state police to close the ramp.
Harry Boone, 46 of Harvey, Ill., was in the right lane of the ramp when he attempted to move into the left lane. Police said Boone was going too fast to negotiate the curve, lost control and the rig began to roll over. The truck slid against the concrete barrier wall for approximately 600 feet, which caused the contents of the rail container he was hauling to begin to smoke and smolder.
The Gary Fire Department was called to spray inside the container, which held approximately 40,000 pounds of plywood.
The truck, owned by 4K Cartage Inc., of Highland, sustained heavy damage.
Boone was taken to Methodist Hospital Southlake in Merrillville. He was cited for speed too fast to avoid a collision.
The ramp was closed for more than an hour.
