WINFIELD — A Crown Point man arrested shortly after a bank robbery Tuesday night is charged with robbery, attempted robbery and confinement.
Christopher Gerlach, 39, was apprehended outside a house in Lakes of the Four Seasons after a resident there reported a suspicious man in the area, Lake County police spokeswoman Patti Van Til said Friday.
The robber entered Centier Bank, 8020 E. 109th Ave., about 5 p.m. and demanded money, but did not appear to have a weapon, police said.
He was given some cash and ran from the scene, but security guards at the gated community located and apprehended Gerlach a short time later.
Detective Sgt. Edward Jenkins investigated the case and obtained the charges Thursday, Van Til said.
