Schererville man admits collecting child porn

Updated: March 29, 2013 4:08PM

A Schererville man admitted to federal agents Wednesday he’s collected child porn for the past eight years, according to a probable cause affidavit filed.

Matthew Jasek now faces possible charges of possessing child pornography in the U.S. District Court in Hammond.

According to the affidavit, Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent Marc Rochon first started investigating Jasek in August after the agent discovered possible child pornography files being shared online by an Internet address associated with Jasek’s address.

One downloaded video showed a girl about 11 to 13 years old in a sexual situation. After a search revealed the address of the photo’s owners to be the same as Jasek’s, federal agents served him with a search warrant Wednesday.

He told agents he searches for child pornography twice a week for the past eight years and he kept all the videos in a specific computer file that held about 4,000 files, although it was unclear yet if they were all child pornography images.

It was unclear as of Thursday morning if Jasek had his initial appearance yet.
