Merrillville, Andrean, Bowman win boys regionals

Merrillville captured the 4A Michigan City boys basketball regional Saturday night with a 76-55 victory over South Bend Adams.
Earlier, a 3-point shot with three seconds on the clock lifted Merrillville to a 55-52 semifinal victory over unbeaten Munster. Merrillville’s B.J. Jenkins’s shot stunned the Mustangs, ending their undefeated season.
In Class 3A action, Andrean outlasted Plymouth, 70-60 in overtime at Plymouth. Earlier, Andrean beat Gary Lew Wallace STEM Academy 71-56 in the semifinal.
At North Judson, Gary Thea Bowman Academy downed Bishop Luers, 82-72 for the Class 3A regional crown. Earlier, Boone Grove lost to Luers, 60-34 and Bowman advanced with a 65-58 win over LaVille.
In the Class A Triton regional Pioneer beat Gary 21st Century Charter School, 63-49 in the semifinal game.
