PORTAGE — Alfredo Brignoni, 23, of Portage, was arrested for felony criminal confinement for allegedly keeping his 20-year-old girlfriend from going home.
The Gary woman told police that Brignoni squeezed her neck during an argument early Tuesday morning, after he saw a text she had received from another man asking for “birthday sex.”
She arranged to have her sister pick her up at a Lake Station truck stop and Brignoni was going to drive her to the spot, but once there, he admitted to police, he changed his mind and kept driving, repeatedly refusing to let her out of the car.
Back at his apartment, in the 3200 block of Lighthouse, they argued again and she again wanted her sister to pick her up, but he allegedly would not let her leave the bedroom.
He finally consented to drive her home at about 11 a.m., when police arrived to find the pair leaving the neighborhood. Brignoni was charged with misdemeanor battery, also.
