Man shot to death in Hammond

Hammond Police are investigating the shooting death of an 18-year-old man Monday afternoon at his home in the 1400 block of Sherman Street.

Hammond Police Chief Brian Miller said police received a call about a shooting around 4 p.m. They responded to the house and found Cameron Saunders, who had been shot in the torso.

Saunders was taken to Franciscan St. Margaret Health in Hammond, where he was pronounced dead at 4:31 p.m. Saunders’ death was labeled a homicide.

Miller said police do not yet have a motive in the shooting and a suspect is still at large.
