A Merrillville senior living complex will close its 120-bed skilled nursing facility in November, laying off 121 employees as a result.
Capital Senior Living ILM-B Inc., which operates Town Centre Health Care, filed notice with the state Wednesday that it would close its skilled nursing facility, at 7250 Arthur Blvd., by Nov. 4.
About half of the employees being laid off are nurses and certified nursing aides.
The letter says that Capital will still operate its independent living and assisted living facilities.
Representatives for Town Centre and Capital could not be reached for comment Friday afternoon. It was not clear how many residents at Town Centre’s skilled nursing facility would be displaced.
Town Centre’s website says the community offers apartments for senior citizens along with other services, such as an activity center, a salon and exercise classes.
