CEDAR LAKE — Longtime Cedar Lake parks director Mary Joan Dickson is no longer employed by the town.
Town Manager Ian Nicolini confirmed Dickson has not been employed by the town since Sept. 5. He said he could not comment on a reason for her departure.
“She no longer works for the Town of Cedar Lake,” Nicolini said, adding he could not comment on whether or not Dickson left on her own or was terminated.
“The Town of Cedar Lake does not comment on any personnel-related matter or ongoing investigation,” he said.
Dickson, who is also president of the Hanover Community School Corp. board, also confirmed she no longer works for the town. She said she could not comment on the reasons behind her departure.
“I cannot say anything at this time. I did obtain an attorney,” Dickson said.
Dickson was elected twice to the Hanover School Corp. board and has served as a precinct chairwoman for the Democratic Party. She has worked with the children in the community in some capacity for more than 30 years including within the Hanover School Corp., the Boys and Girls Club of Cedar Lake and the town.
