Rick Urschel, previously vice president of operations, has been named president/CEO at Urschel Laboratories Inc., the company announced Friday. Bob Urschel, who held the position for the past 30 years, will remain involved with the company as chairman of the board.
“As I pass the leadership of the company on to Rick, I am fully confident in his abilities as the new president and CEO of Urschel Laboratories,” Bob Urschel said.
Rick Urschel started working at the company in 1991. With a management degree from Purdue University, full working knowledge of every department within the company, and a passion for technology, he embraces the legacy of carrying on in the footsteps of the Urschel family of innovators, the company said.
One of the few privately held, family-run U.S. manufacturing companies, Urschel Laboratories is the global leader in food-cutting technology. Founded in Valparaiso in 1910 by William Urschel, the company recently acquired 160 acres in the neighboring town of Chesterton and is in the process of constructing what will become its new manufacturing and global headquarters.
