MERRILLVILLE — Three Lake County men were arrested Tuesday afternoon at a Merrillville motel after they allegedly responded to a Craigslist ad and propositioned a female undercover officer posing as a prostitute, Lake County police spokeswoman Patti VanTil said.
For about six hours, police from the Lake County Children and Family Unit met with men who saw an ad for “casual encounters” at America’s Best Value Inn, 8250 Louisiana St. The men all propositioned the officer for “services,” VanTil said.
All three were being held pending charges of patronizing a prostitute and sexual deviate conduct.
They are David Adams, 31, of Hobart; Louis Aguilera Sr., 51, of Crown Point; and Alexander Ziemak, 38, of Crown Point.
“This sting is part of an ongoing initiative to address prostitution and human trafficking,” Sheriff John Buncich said. “We will continue to address these issues in the weeks and months ahead.”
Anyone with information on those types of crimes can call Detective Derrick Hurst at 755-3355 or the anonymous crime hotline at 1-800-750-2746.
