Ogden Dunes woman found unresponsive in jail later dies

VALPARAISO — Autopsy results are expected Monday for a 30-year-old Ogden Dunes woman who died early Saturday after she was found unresponsive in a cell at the Porter County Jail.
Porter County Coroner Chuck Harris said there were no signs of trauma on the body of Autumn McIlvain. Results of toxicology tests will take four to six weeks.
Officers with the Portage Police Department brought McIlvain to the jail on a warrant at about 10:15 p.m. Friday, according to a news release from the Porter County Sheriff’s Department.
She went through the booking process and was placed in a padded cell after being deemed a threat to herself and others after a suicide screening.
At about 12:30 a.m. Saturday, a jail officer found her unresponsive with shallow breathing. She was then transported to at Porter Regional Hospital, where she died.
