GARY — The Indiana State Police will place a memorial marker for a fallen trooper Saturday where he was shot and killed 10 years ago.
Trooper Scott Patrick died in the line of duty on Dec. 22, 2003, after being dispatched to assist a stranded motorist at the Grant Street exit of I-80, the Borman Expressway.
The naming resolution, filed by State Rep. Vernon Smith, D-Gary, was approved by the General Assembly earlier this year.
Patrick’s family, a state police honor guard and guest speakers will attend the 8 p.m. memorial ceremony.
Gary police and fire departments will set a traffic pattern southbound on Grant Street to close the right lane for overflow parking and divert southbound traffic into the left lane.
