LIBERTY TOWNSHIP — An East Chicago woman died Wednesday after being injured in a three-car collision Monday afternoon along Ind. 49 near County Road 600 North.
Patricia Dahlin, 75, of the 4700 block of Ivy Street in East Chicago, was a passenger in the car driven by Carl Dahlin, of the same address.
The Dahlins’ Mitsubishi Galant attempted to reach the median of Ind. 49 from eastbound County Road around 3 p.m. Monday, according to the crash report. The car did not clear the highway and was struck on the rear of the driver’s side by the northbound vehicle.
Dahlin’s car then hit a third car that had already stopped in the median.
Patricia Dahlin’s only visible injury, according to the accident report, was a dislocated left elbow. The report also noted she was talking to medical staff at the scene.
Porter County coroner Chuck Harris said the accident caused a brain injury that led to her death.
