Most Gary homicide victims were shot

Facts about Gary’s 2013 homicide victims:
Of the 55 people killed, three were women.
The average age of men killed was 30 years old.
All but six victims lived in Gary.
There were five double homicides and one triple slaying.
The oldest victim, Zan Davenport, was 75. The youngest was 5-month-old Syrus Morgan. Both died from blunt force trauma.
One victim, found shot to death in a burning house on March 31, remains unidentified.
Four victims died from stab wounds, two from blunt force trauma and one was strangled. All the rest were shot.
July was the deadliest month, with 11 violent deaths.
