Hammond Police are looking for a man suspected of breaking into two Hessville bars in the last few months.

At 1:48 a.m. Jan. 3, a man broke the glass out of the front window at Sportsman’s Tap, 6320 Kennedy Ave. with a three-pound hammer, police said. He went directly behind the bar and rifled through a cabinet, surveillance video shows. Police said he was inside the building for 90 seconds or less and left without taking anything.

On Sept. 25, a man used a sledge hammer to break the glass on the west side of Miso’s Overflow, 6309 Kennedy Ave. Police said $1,300 was taken in the break-in, which ocurred at about 4:30 a.m.

The suspect went directly behind the bar, located the money in a drawer and exited within two minutes, police said.

Detective Mark Detterline said in an email that one man is thought to be responsible for both break-ins.
