Warrant issued for Gary man charged in 2011 fatal shooting

GARY — An arrest warrant has been issued for a Glen Park man charged with murder in the 2011 shooting death of Jermaine Johnson.

Eric A. Crosslin, 27, of 4620 Buchanan St., allegedly shot and killed Johnson, 20, on May 20, 2011, while the victim spoke to an acquaintance outside a house in the 4400 block of Connecticut Street.

Johnson died at the Methodist Hospitals Northlake campus of multiple gunshot wounds.

A witness to the homicide told Cpl. Jeff Hornyak and Lake County Detective Ed Jenkins that a statement to police given the night of the shooting was incomplete because she feared retaliation.

But after talking to Johnson’s mother, the witness called police and provided a detailed accounting.

She said she and Johnson went to Connecticut Street where he stood outside his car and spoke to an acquaintance. Another man, later identified as Crosslin, walked up “with his hands behind his back,” the probable cause affidavit states.

Johnson and Crosslin exchanged greetings, the witness said, then Crosslin pushed Johnson’s friend out of the way and started shooting.

Johnson collapsed on the ground.

Crosslin will be held without bail when he is arrested.
