MERRILLVILLE — Andrean High School’s principal has taken a leave of absence and a school management team is handling her duties, its president said Thursday.
Andrean President Harry Vande Velde III declined to discuss the reason for the leave. “It’s confidential, it’s a personnel matter,” he said.
Principal Mary Beth Ginalski joined the Catholic high school in 2012 after serving as principal of Ridge View Elementary in Hobart.
Vande Velde sent a letter to parents on March 7 advising them of the leave. The letter told parents they would be notified if a temporary principal needs to be appointed.
“In the meantime please do not infer or promulgate anything negative about Principal Ginalski or the leave situation. Mrs. Ginalski is still our Principal, and we are very appreciative of the things that she has accomplished at Andrean. We have been blessed in many ways under Principal Ginalski’s leadership,” Vande Velde said.
Vande Velde became Andrean’s first president in September. Previously, he served as president of the Legacy Foundation.
His duties focus on fund raising, strategic planning, and marketing.
