Griffith police are investigating a shooting that stemmed from an apparent domestic dispute early Thursday.
A 21-year-old Lafayette man was shot in the lower leg during a dispute with his girlfriend outside her parents’ home in the 300 block of South Griffith Boulevard, police learned.
Police learned about 2:30 a.m. that the girlfriend was driving the man to the hospital. Officers found the car and called medics, who transported the man to Community Hospital in Munster with an injury that did not appear to be life-threatening.
Witnesses told police investigators that family members got involved in the dispute between the couple, and the man has told police he doesn’t know who shot him. Investigators searched the home and the car near the scene but didn’t find a gun. A bullet was lodged in the man’s leg, police said.
