FBI visits Auditor’s office: Sources

Updated: April 9, 2014 6:33PM

VALPARAISO — Sources within the Porter County Administration Building confirmed Tuesday that an FBI agent had visited Auditor Bob Wichlinski’s office.

The agent reportedly requested payroll information regarding the Porter County Expo Center.

Wichlinski did not return phone messages or an email from the Post-Tribune seeking additional information.

Agents with the FBI have visited several county offices in recent months, including the information technology department last month, to download data related to the plan commission. Agents also were in the plan commission office last month, seeking copies of building permits for the construction of Porter Regional Hospital and an adjacent medical office building, both located at Indiana 49 and U.S. 6.

They also have sought conflict-of-interest statements filed with the clerk’s office; communication regarding the Board of Commissioners’ contract for health clinic services for employees; and highway department bids and contracts for services and supplies for 2010 and 2011.
