GRIFFITH — Charges were expected to be filed Thursday against a man taken into custody after a Griffith bank was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday morning.
Officers responded to a hold-up alarm around 9 a.m at Chase Bank, 1203 E. Ridge Road, Griffith Police Department Public Information Officer Detective Matt Argadine said in a news release. Witnesses told officers the male suspect displayed a handgun and fled in a silver vehicle.
The amount of money was undetermined, Argadine said, but the suspect in custody was believed to be involved in other robberies in the area.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Police Department and FBI/GRIT Task Force assisted with the arrest, which occurred shortly after the armed robbery.
