WHITING — The U.S. Coast Guard’s Calumet Harbor unit was searching for a man who disappeared in Lake Michigan near Whiting on Monday night.
A spokesperson with the unit said it received a call about 8 p.m. Monday that four people were swimming off Whiting Pier when they “started having trouble.” Three people were pulled out.
The spokesperson said the missing man was Hispanic, but he didn’t have an age or other identifying information other than he is an adult.
“We will update the situation as we have more information, and we remain hopeful,” the spokesperson said.
The Lake County Sheriff Marine Unit and Indiana Department of Environmental Management assisted the Coast Guard.
