HAMMOND — A Lake Station man died Tuesday from injuries he received after he lost control of his motorcycle while entering the Borman Expressway.

According to a news release from the Indiana State Police, Edward S. Reifsteck III, 23, of Lake Station, was on the ramp from northbound Kennedy Avenue to eastbound I-80 when he entered the curve of the entrance ramp at an excessive speed, lost control of his 2006 Suzuki, and was thrown from the motorcycle, coming to rest in an eastbound lane of Interstate 80/94.

Eastbound and westbound lanes were closed for the landing of the air ambulance but due to the Reifsteck’s injuries he was transported to Community Hospital in Munster by Hammond EMS. Reifsteck, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the hospital of blunt force trauma, police said.
