HOBART — A Lake Station teenager was killed Monday afternoon when his motorcycle collided with a Jeep at Colbourne Street and East 37th Avenue, near Interstate 65, according to Lake County sheriff’s police.

Diamond Cody Cooper, 19, was driving a 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle about 2:30 p.m. when he ran into a 2012 Jeep Patriot driven by Lois Pennock, 61, of Hobart, who was traveling north on Colbourne Street, police reported.

Cooper was thrown from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene at 4:35 p.m., the Lake County coroner’s office said.

Sheriff’s police spokeswoman Patti Van Til said the accident investigation is ongoing, and no citations were issued at the scene.

Cooper is the son of the tattoo artists Roy Boy Cooper and Debra Cooper. Diamond Cody Cooper took over as owner of Roy Boy’s The Badlands tattoo parlor in 2013, three years after his father died.

The sheriff’s police crash reconstruction team is assisting in the investigation.
