Man accused of threatening to kill cop during pot bust given probation

Updated: August 11, 2014 3:19PM

A Hammond man who threatened a police officer during an arrest for possession of marijuana was placed on probation for 18 months on Monday and ordered to perform 40 hours of community service.

Cresencio Arredondo, 25, who pleaded guilty Monday to intimidation, admitted he had threatened an officer on April 14 after the car in which he was riding was pulled over for a traffic violation. Police found marijuana on him and he was placed under arrest.

When the officer told Arredondo that he was being arrested, Arredondo made several threats to kill the officer.

If Arredondo has no probation violations, he can ask Lake Superior Court Judge Clarence Murray to reduce his felony conviction to a misdemeanor.
