EAST CHICAGO — Police are asking for help in identifying a gunman and two witnesses to a shooting that seriously injured a 25 year-old Portage woman Monday morning.
The woman, Kelly Morgan, was found in the 4800 block of Alexander Street at around 4 a.m. after officers responded to a call of multiple shootings in the area, Police Chief Mark Becker said in a release Monday. Morgan is believed to have been with two other people, someone from LaCrosse and another man named Brandon, who fled the scene. Brandon’s last name is unknown.
Morgan was to be airlifted to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Illinois, but couldn’t because weather conditions prevented the transport, Becker said. Morgan was in critical condition Monday afternoon.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact East Chicago Detective Terrence Fife at 398-8498 or anonymously at 391-8500.
