A new chief executive officer will take charge at the Majestic Star Casino on March 8, the company announced. Majestic has two boats in Gary.
Peter M. Liguori has also been named CEO and president of its parent company, Majestic Holdco LLC, and each of its subsidiaries.
He most recently served as president of Chicago-based HGMI Gaming, formerly Hyatt Gaming Management. Liguori was also the corporate vice president of finance for Ameristar Casinos Inc.
Majestic’s parent company emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings in December. In November, the Indiana Gaming Commission approved Majestic’s transfer of ownership to its biggest creditor, Wayzata Investment Partners, a Minnesota investment firm.
Wayzata managing partner Patrick Halloran is chairman of the Majestic board.
On Tuesday, Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson said talks have been positive with the new owners in resolving a dispute over $14 million the city contends it’s owed by the casino.
