Subaru sponsors
Poo Free Parks
Subaru of Merrillville has agreed to sponsor the Poo Free Parks program for Schererville.
The sponsorship covers the cost of maintenance and supplies at the Poo Free Parks stations in the town parks. This is the first such sponsorship in Indiana.
Poo Free Parks serves more than 275 parks throughout the U.S. with its eco-friendly pet waste program. The program includes the installation, supply, and upkeep of pet waste bag dispensers made from 100 percent recyclable aluminum, filled with 100 percent biodegradable bags designed to naturally deteriorate within 18 months.
The dog waste dispensers are maintained weekly by crews driving hybrid vehicles.

Businesses honored by Midwest Living
Several Porter County businesses are featured in Midwest Living magazine’s recently released Best of the Midwest Travel.
They are Songbird Prairie Bed & Breakfast in Valparaiso, Bistro 157 in Valparaiso, Octave Grill in Chesterton, Bartlett’s Gourmet Grill and Tavern in Beverly Shores and DunesWalk Inn in Chesterton.
Also, the magazine makes note of the Indiana Dunes as a destination for swimming, hiking, biking and birding
